A 13-year-old girl raped in Telangana accused of escape

womanIn a first of its kind, a non-binary Canadian trans-father is campaigning for the sex of his baby to be marked as unknown.

Kori Doty is not identified as a man or a woman. “When I was born, doctors looked at my genitals and made assumptions about who I would be, and those assignments followed and followed my identification throughout my life,” Doty told CBC News. Adding, “Those assumptions were wrong, and I ended up having to make many adjustments since then.”

Now, the father of British Colombia wants to keep the baby Searyl Atli’s sex out of all records. Kori told CBC News Searyl will rise up without genre “until they have a sense of self and mastering the vocabulary to tell me who they are.”

Kori does not want to put restriction on the baby that comes with “child’s box and girl’s box”, instead rather recognize Searyl for the person they are.

Since November 2016, Kori has attempted to obtain a birth certificate issued, but has failed. CBC also reported that Doty marked U (undetermined or unassigned) in the gender section on the baby’s health card.

While some provinces in Canada accommodate a non-binary option in official documents, British Columbia only includes female or male gender designations. Kori believes that the country should omit gender as an option in all documents.
