HYDERABAD: YSR Congress has announced that it will hold a dharna on August 10 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to protest against the “delay” of the Centre in granting special status to Andhra Pradesh and to highlight “indifference” of the government Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on the issue.

“Although President ysrc YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has time and again brought the matter to the competent authorities in Delhi, there was no response and the state government has been silent on the subject, for reasons not known. Therefore, We decided to hold a dharna in Delhi on August 10, “party leaders Subashchandra Pilli Bose and Nehru Jyothula told reporters in Hyderabad.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had held a meeting with the leaders of the previous games.

“Jagan Reddy take the dharna and later, accompanied by party MPs, MLC, MLAs and other leaders, march to Parliament,” they said.

“The issue of special status was raised by BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu, who wanted (state) to extend to ten years and five years, while the then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh said special status” They said adding that our state can industrially developed and on other fronts only if a special status is granted.

Ysrc alleged that the TDP government is not taking any initiative in this regard.

“The TDP government must honor its promises and guarantees before the start of the monsoon session, so that other issues can be taken in discussion rather than talking about broken promises,” said Deputy Speaker Jyothula Nehru.

“It was a government speak up, with little or nothing of the facts and has been in steady decline in welfare programs. In the cyclone Hudhud about 1.34 lakh houses were damaged in three districts of the state, but the government banned only 10,000 homes. The number of pensioners and the ration is cut drastically so is the number of people receiving ex-gratia to give up their land, “he claimed.
