White House Reacts To Indian’s Shooting

34Amidst the criticism over the silence of US President Donald Trump over the shooting incident in a Kansas city bar which left Indian-American engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla dead last Wednesday, the White House has finally responded.

The White House said that early reports regarding the alleged hate crime were very disturbing. “I don’t want to get ahead of law enforcement, but I was asked the other day about the story in Kansas, the shooting in Kansas. While the story is evolving, early reports out of Kansas are equally disturbing,” the White House statement said.

Interestingly, the statement from White House came on a day when Foreign Secretary Jaishankar came to the US to discuss the incidents of attacks on Indians and issues of H-1B visas.

“From our country’s founding, we’ve been dedicated to protecting the freedom of our citizens’ rights to worship. No one in America should feel afraid to follow the religion of their choosing freely and openly. The President has dedicated to preserving this originating principle of our nation,” the statement further said.

Despite the statement which came very late, democrats are criticizing President Trump for not directly condemning the Kansas incident, thus representing his hatred towards immigrants.

Interim, the FBI has joined local police to investigate the apparent hate crime that has shocked the Indian diaspora living in the US.
