The English version of Bixby is taking longer because of the lack of large data: report

Bixby, the voice assistant for Samsung, has been delayed because the company “lacks accumulation of large data,” which is key to the deep learning of any technology, according to The Korea Herald.

Bixby is the latest voice support service from Samsung that was unveiled in May along with the Galaxy S8 and S8 + smartphone. The service was touted to be the USP of the two flagship smartphones launched earlier this year, however, failed to be recognized in many markets due to its continued struggle for English language learning. The launch date for the English language service has been pushed twice so far and is said to be fully deployed until the end of this month. However, it is available in the Samsung home market and works well in Korean.

A beta test for the English version was made available later this month to select Samsung S8 / S8 + customers in the United States.

“Developing Bixby in other languages is taking longer than we expected, mainly due to the accumulation of large data,” a Samsung spokesman told The Korea Herald.

Apart from this, communication between Samsung engineers working at Samsung Research in America in California and the Korea-based has also been cited as the cause of the delay.

“Many engineers in the US are making efforts to develop the English version, but due to geographical and linguistic barriers, their frequent reports and communication with the Korean administration make progress much slower than development Of the Korean version here, “another source said.
