Telangana to launch Rs 25,000 cr development plan of the village

The project, “Gram Jyothi” will be released in August 15. A cabinet subcommittee headed by Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao has been formed to work out the modalities of the program, an official statement issued by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar office Rao said Sunday.

Telangana government will be spending a massive Rs 25,000 crore in the next five years to implement a new program that aims to strengthen the Panchayat Raj system and promote development at the village level in the State. The project, “Gram Jyothi” will be released in August 15. A cabinet subcommittee headed by Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao has been formed to work out the modalities of the program, an official statement issued by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar office Rao said Sunday.

The program of Rs 25,000 crore, to be launched on Independence Day, empower panchayats to design and implement various development plans for the people under them, he said.

Depending on the population, Rs 2 crore to Rs 6 million rupees will be allocated to each village to finance the development works, the statement said. Ministers of Finance, Roads and Construction, Agriculture, Irrigation and Forestry will be the members of the Cabinet Sub-Committee he said. The Chief Minister held a meeting on July 30 with the Committee members and other officials to discuss the implementation of the rural development project mega.
