The Censorship Board has asked manufacturers of next Hindi film “Drishyam” starring Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Taboo and Rajat Kapoor, to remove a scene, which featured a woman being slapped by police.

Directed by Nishikant Kamat, the film was scanned by the members of the Board of Censors, who thought the scene was abusive and therefore it needs to be cut. “The Censorship Board, under the chairmanship or Pahlaj Nihalani, is very clear on the issue of violence against women. In any case, they are willing to allow a woman shown being beaten, abused or raped,” Bollywoodlife cited a source.

“Drishyam” is the remake of a Malayalam film of the same title. It also has a Tamil version too, and versions were superhits. Though the scene in question has been deleted in the Hindi version, the same scene was allowed in Malayalam and Tamil versions. Apart from the mentioned scene, some dialogues were also eliminated from the film.

The film stars Ajay Devgn seems to have a good mix of emotion, action, family values, suspense and excitement. Ajay plays the role of a simple man, who runs a cable television network. He is a fourth-grade dropout, who believes in a simple life, and loves his family more. His family consists of his wife and two daughters. The film is about how a commoner, whose family is somehow involved in a crime, goes against all odds to save their loved ones. “Drishyam” is scheduled to launch on July 31.

Bollywood lovers are all ready and excited to take Drishyam Ajay Devgn in theaters next week on Friday, July 31, but reportedly went through film fast editing just before launch. Recent reports suggest that slapping scene Drishyam director Nishikant Kamat was withdrawn before coming through censorship board and preparing for launch. The scene was cut from the reports, Drishyam was a scene where I saw women being slapped during a police interrogation. Reports also reveal that the scene was cut from the movie as the Censorship Board is totally against any kind of show scene or dialogue that projects the violence against women in any form.

Cuts not only visual but also some words in the dialogues have also been deleted from the film. However, the Malayalam film with the same name as Drishyam Ajay Devgn is originally based on, was slapped and had scenes in the film. Not only that, but recently launched the Tamil version of the film also had the same scene uncut.
