Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman do not qualify to choose coach of India: Sandeep Patil

crkMumbai: Former India coach Sandeep Patil has criticized the BCCI-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for the weaknesses that occurred before and after the appointment of India coach Ravi Shastri.

The CAC, which is made up of legendary cricket players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, announced Shastri as the new head coach. He named former cricket players Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid as consultants for bowling and batting for the overseas tours of India.

However, Patil hit the trio, saying they are not qualified enough to choose the head coach of the Indian cricket team.

“I would not even say deformed, I would say everything is wrong,” Patil told Mid Day. “Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman are absolute legends as players and have done great things for the country, but none of them have trained a team, do coaches choose referees and vice versa?”

The former Team India cricket player also accused the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) of “spending money” regarding Ravi Shastri’s appointment as coach of the Indian cricket team.

“It’s like passing the ball, and a bit like saying,” Look, we’ve identified the next coach and now it’s up to you. “Is all this done to play safe because of the recommendations of the Lodha Panel?

While Ravi Shastri’s appointment was not as surprising as it was the favorite choice for the post, it was Zaheer Khan’s announcement as a touring bowling consultant abroad that aroused much controversy.

Shastri reportedly wanted the experienced Bharat Arun as a bowling coach, but his request was not accepted by the CAC.
