Land Mafia In Vijayawada – TDP MLA Involved?

A man fought with the British then for bringing independence to India. His descendants are now fighting with the ‘land mafia in Vijayawada’ to save the land that was allocated to him in his honor. People as influential as Vijayawada TDP MLA Bonda Uma are allegedly involved in this land scam. CID has attached Uma’s wife, Sujatha as A8 in the FIR after investigating the case.

Kesireddy Suryanarayana of Krishna district was allocated 5.57 acres of land at Ajit Singh Nagar in Vijayawada in 1957 by the govt. in recognition of his service in the freedom fight. The unused land attracted the attention of land grabbers after the bifurcation of AP as it is now valued at around Rs 60 Cr.

The land mafia created fake documents and occupied the entire land. When Suryanarayana’s grandson, Suresh Babu, the legal heir, confronted them, he was reportedly intimidated and thrashed by the men employed by the mafia to guard the land. Suresh then approached police but no progress was seen in the case as politically influential people were allegedly involved in the land scam.

The case somehow went to the notice of CID (Crime Investigation Department) who upon investigation found out that the accused had created fake documents with forged signatures to show that the land was sold and registered some 30 years ago. In the FIR registered, CID accused eight persons including MLA Bonda Uma’s wife Sujatha, who was attached as A8.

Responding to the allegations, Bonda Uma refuted them as mere creation of his political rivals. He confessed to have purchased the land, unknowing that it was disputed, for development. “Soon after we found out that the land was disputed, we gave up our share. Now, we are in no way connected with the land and the allegations against me and my wife are completely false,” he reportedly said.

Earlier, the complainant allegedly said that Uma’s followers were threatening him over the land issue.
