Hero Buys Mallya’s Kingfisher Villa

24Kingfisher Villa, once owned by former liquor baron Vijay Mallya has been bought over by actor-businessman Sachiin Joshi. In a dramatic turn, Sachiin bought Mallya’s Kingfisher Villa that was used as his party pad. The prime property situated in Goa’s Candolim. It had become the famous destination for the parties that the high-flying Mallya threw at the villa in his heydays.
Sachiin’s film production company Viiking Media & Entertainment said to have owned the property now. The State Bank of India-led group of lenders earlier failed to sell the bungalow and tried to auction the property in three attempts and it failed in all the three attempts. Three previous attempts to auction off the property at Rs 85.29 crore, then Rs 81 crore and finally Rs 73 crore previously failed.

While the last auction was held on March 6, it’s said that Sachiin has paid slightly more than the previous reserve price of Rs 73 Crore. SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya has confirmed the sale of the Kingfisher Villa.

The ex-chairman of United Spirits Ltd, Vijay Mallya is fugitive liquor baron. He owes over Rs 9000 crore to lenders and has been declared as wilful defaulter after Kingfisher Airlines was grounded in 2012.
