Demand for AI, machine learning experts to climb in India for next year

demandDemand for artificial intelligence and machine learning specialists in the country is expected to see a 60 percent increase by 2018 due to the increasing adoption of automation, says KellyOCG India.

According to Francis Padamadan, country director, KellyOCG India, a provider of talent management solutions, although AI and machine adoption are on the rise in India, there is the insignificant talent with expertise in such technologies as deep learning and neural networks.

Consequently, the average salary of AI professionals in India across industries is quite attractive.

Giving details Padamadan said, an experience of 2-4 years commands a salary of Rs 15-20 lacs per year, while for 4-8 years it is Rs 20-50 lacs per year and for 8-15 years it is Rs 50 lacs a Rs 1 crore per year.

On the other hand, HR managers and talent acquisition professionals feel that because of the AI their roles will evolve towards broader and more strategic roles of product management.

Because there is a significant reduction of talent in the AI space, “recruiters who can accelerate their hiring process using AI automation tools will win the war for talent in the future,” Padamadan said.

The top five places to find AI and the machine learning talent is Bangalore, NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

“In the space world of AI, big companies are focusing on acquiring the best talent on board,” he said.

Acqui-contracting is a process in which a company is acquired primarily for the hiring of its staff, rather than for its products or services.

KellyOCG sees an increase in demand for artificial intelligence and machine learning talent from industries such as IT, e-commerce, BFSI, health care, retail, and manufacturing.
