Andhra vs Telangana Row: Governor Narsimhan meets Home Minister Rajnath Singh, discusses situation in states

Amid a raging row between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on various topics, Governor ESL Narasimhan Friday Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh met in the national capital.
Narasimhan, who cares Telugu both states, is understood to have discussed Section 8 of the Reorganization Act of Andhra Pradesh as the two states are locked in a bitter struggle over the issue.

The governor, who was summoned by the central government, was advised by the Minister of Interior to take immediate steps to reduce tension between the two neighboring measures.
Union Home Secretary L.C. Goyal was also present at the meeting, which lasted about an hour. Narasimhan earlier held talks with Interior Minister and informed him of the latest developments in the wake of money for alleged vote fraud and wiretapping.
Governor’s visit to Delhi assumes significance in view of the Attorney General of India reported advise him to exercise powers under section 8 and the monitor probe scam money for votes.
The special powers section vests in the Governor in charge of law and order in Hyderabad, which is the joint capital of the two states.
Andhra Pradesh has been demanding the application of the section, but Telangana objected to on the grounds that Hyderabad is an integral part of Telangana and that law and order is a state subject.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh government reiterated demand this month after Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a leader of TDP in cash for vote fraud and leakage of an audio tape of an alleged telephone conversation Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Telangana MLA nominee Elvis Stephenson.
ACB had arrested in Telangana TDP vice president, A. Revanth Reddy, May 31, while he was giving Rs.50 lakh Stephenson to induce him to vote for TDP-BJP in the elections of the Legislative Council of Telangana.
While Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Naidu accused of masterminding the bribery scandal, TDP has alleged that the government is using TRS phones Naidu and his cabinet colleagues.
