Taking immediate action against Jagan Reddy, may present FIR: CE to AP body survey

jaganHyderabad: The Electoral Commission (EC) on Wednesday called on the Director General of Elections of the state electoral body to take immediate action against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his comments on Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The EC said that Reddy’s comment violated the model code of conduct. The use of abusive and provocative language, which has the effect of inciting violence during the electoral speech, amounts to a violation of the model code of conduct, he said.

The body of the poll also stated that Reddy’s statement against the prime minister was a case fit to rebuke. He said he has noticed the inflammatory tone and tenor of Reddy’s statements.

During the campaign for Nandyal by-poll on August 3, Jagan had said, “There is nothing wrong if Chandrababu Naidu is shot to death on the road for failing to keep his election promises.”

The EC said it is of the opinion that a FIR can be filed against YSR Congress Chief Reddy.
