Opposition to the barrage across the Krishna Karnataka grows stronger

Opposition to the proposed Telangana Karnataka to build a closed barrier around the Krishna village near Raichur Taluk Gurjapur to provide water to the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTP) round the clock is getting louder.

After a team led by Minister for Industries Jupally Telangana Krishna Rao and Mahabubnagar MP and Speaker of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the Lok Sabha Jitender Reddy he visited the construction site on Tuesday and showed strong disagreement, two teams of Telangana, one representing the Congress and one representing the YSR Congress, visited the site at different hours on Wednesday and demanded that the Karnataka government to immediately stop the construction work.

The team was led by the Congress MLA DK Aruna Gadwal, the YSR Congress team was led by Lok Sabha member Khammam and Telangana State unit president of YSR Congress Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

“The government of Karnataka is building a dam across the Krishna in the name of ensuring the uninterrupted supply of water to the spa. But the use of dam water for other purposes can not be ruled out. The construction of the dam therefore, it could lead to water crisis in some parts of Telangana, including Mahabubnagar district, which are completely dependent on Krishna water for various purposes, “Ms. Aruna said mediapersons. She demanded that the Karnataka government to immediately stop the construction work until the problem was resolved.
