Naidu releases water to HNSS approach channel

chandrababuChief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu lit three pumps to release water to Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) approach canal in Muchumarri village in Pagidyala district mandal on Friday.

Irrigation engineers for their unremitting efforts to complete the elevation irrigation system said that the facilities were created to extract water from the Srisailam reservoir at three different levels to irrigate the land and meet the drinking water needs of people and the cattle.

Mr. Naidu inspected the pump house and offered ‘Jalasiriki Harati’ to Krishna.

Asserting that 16 bombs were available for the Muchumarri LI regime to release water to the HNSS through 12 bombs and to the KC channel through four bombs, he said that water could be lifted from Muchumarri to a level of 798 feet in the reservoir of Srisailam and supplied to any channel as per the requirement.

An action plan was being drawn up to establish a link in Malyala to supply water to the KC channel and the Gorakallu and Owk reservoirs and another link in the Banakacherla crossover to supply water to Velugodu and Brahmamsagar.

The Galeru Nagari project would supply water to the Gandikota reservoir and the Chitravati equilibrium reservoir. Asserting that his government was completing all the irrigation projects, Mr. Naidu stated that the Handri Neeva canal was being widened to Madakasira.

Irrigation water was being supplied to the Gorakallu, Owk and Veligallu reservoir, he assured and ensured the water supply to the Alur, Dhone and Pathikonda districts.

The compensation of ₹ 450 crores was paid to those displaced under the Gandikota Dam. The oak tunnel would be completed in 10 days, he said.

Drip irrigation

Making sure to consider the Gundrevula project, Mr. Naidu said that it was an interstate project that would benefit the parliamentary constituency of Kurnool.

SC received a 90 percent subsidy for drip irrigation and 70 percent to others, as water needed for one acre could normally be used to water 2.50 acres, he said.

Managing a compromise on water conservation, he said the Srisailam reservoir had 18.7 tonnes of water last year. This season, it stood at 16.6 tmcft. There were no entrances to the Narayanapur, Jurala and Tungabhadra dams.

Sanctioned funds

He promised scholarships to students in the Budagajangam community, although a committee report was expected in six months.

Mr. Naidu announced the sanction of funds for the construction of a church in Muchumarri, ₹ 5 crores on a road from Nandikotkur to Brahmanakotkur, and 100 houses in Muchumarri and Nehrunagar. Mr. Naidu also pledged to disburse one-third of the loan waiver this month.

He congratulated Chief Engineer Jalandhar, SE Narayanaswamy, and EE Reddy Sankar for completing the LI scheme. Mr. Naidu congratulated himself on a “Gaja mala”.

Minister of Irrigation Mr. Umamaheswara Rao, Minister of Tourism Bhuma Akhila Priya, Nandyal MP S.P.Y. Reddy, MLC Md. Farooq, Deputies B. Jayanageswar Reddy, Mani Gandhi and S. Aisaiah, Chief Engineer Venkateswara Rao, S. Satyanarayana District Collector and President of APIDC K.E. Prabhakar took part.
