Keyboard on selected HTC smartphones showing annoying ads

phnWe all know that ads on apps or websites are annoying. They simply take away the experience of that product – thanks to their developers who care about everything by filling their pockets. Several OEMs for the Android ecosystem have been ensuring that the third party applications they use for their products remain as free as possible advertisements. But when application developers aim to focus primarily on filling their pockets, OEMs have no control over services, as the latest example of HTC and TouchPal explains.

Some selected HTC smartphone users have been experiencing ads on the top of their TouchPal keyboard. Users have been experiencing banner ads on the keyboard after downloading the latest TouchPal keyboard update. This keyboard is used as the default keyboard on selected HTC smartphones, including last year’s flagship HTC 10.

Now, the obvious solution for users is to switch to another keyboard without ads like Google’s GBoard. However, smartphone users do not expect the default apps on their smartphones to show ads as they have paid for it along with the hardware. HTC says they are surprised by the problem as well and the best thing that users can do is to uninstall the latest update. TouchPal in hand has confirmed that its servers have developed some drawbacks, leading to this problem in HTC smartphones. Both parties, however, are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
