KCR Play the perfect host in Dawat-e-Iftar, promises more

HYDERABAD: Stating that Telangana under Qutb Shahi rulers had prospered with a rich blend of Ganga Jamuna Tahzeeb, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday expressed the hope that it will continue in the new state.

The government of the host Dawat-e-Iftar to the Muslim community in all electoral districts throughout the state Assembly Sunday State. The chief minister, wearing a crisp white Sherwani and matching hat Karakul, participated in the Iftar at the Nizam College Grounds Ramzan and extended greetings to the minority community.

Muslim clerics and leaders as they broke their fast, KCR too chewed dates offered by the Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Ali Mahamood. Addressing the meeting, KCR recalled that Mahatma Gandhi, who had visited Hyderabad in 1930, was impressed by the communal harmony in the city.

“When he (Gandhi) was here Vardhini Vivek College, had lavished praise on the rulers of Hyderabad. I wanted to northern Indians, who were then witnessing wave of communal clashes, to learn from Hyderabadis” he said. Claiming it was due to the grace of Allah that Telangana state had become a reality, the Prime Minister said that his government was planning more schemes for the welfare of the Muslim community and said Dawat-e-Iftar was just the beginning. “This is just the beginning. You will see more of this government. All I need is your blessings,” he told the cheering crowd.

List of welfare programs announced by the State Government on the occasion of the celebrations of Ramzan, said the government was distributing clothes to 1.96 lakh poor Muslims in the state. All Muslim clerics had been punished monthly pension, he added.

After evening prayers, the Chief Minister dined with the president of MIM Asaduddin Owaisi, Mahamood Ali Deputy Chief Minister, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya, President of the Legislative Council Telangana Swamy Gold and Muslim clerics. The Iftar was a success with the people who attended the party as “unprecedented”.
