Jagan Using ‘Magic’ Cards against TDP?

Going by the latest undertakings of YRSC president YS Jagan, political analysts opine that the Opposition leader in AP is allegedly planning to leverage both religion and caste propaganda which play a predominant role in elections.

Being a Christian by religion, Jagan is of the opinion that he has the vote bank of Christians in his pocket. He however feels the need of support of Hindus, who form lion’s share of vote bank, to attain power in 2019 elections. In order to achieve this, the YCP chief has been taking some headline-worthy measures to appease Hindus.

Recently, pictures of Jagan’s visit to Chinna Jeeyar Swamy’s abode were all over the internet. He was seen taking the latter’s blessings and having an obedient chat with him. It is known that Chinna Jeeyar Swamy is one of the most revered religious personalities for Hindu community. It is heard that Jagan had a political agenda behind his visit and those pictures were deliberately leaked to media so as to project himself as a pro-Hindu politician.

Rumors have been rife for a long time that Jagan is allegedly using Mudragada Padmanabham to incite Kapu community against TDP, which has the support of this community for decades, so as to weaken the ruling party.

Afresh, Jagan has declared that his party would soon come up with a declaration for the BCs after his 6-month Padayathra, and that he promised to fulfill all the promises in the declaration after being elected to power. He uttered these words in a meeting held with leaders belonging to all the BC communities across AP.

Alleging that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been using BCs as vote bank at the time of elections and ignoring later, Jagan announced that his party would organize a BC Garjana (huge protest) after the padayatra to question the TDP govt. on the alleged injustice being done to them. Jagan also allegedly charged Naidu with making false promises to all the communities to exploit them during elections.

With Jagan allegedly trying to win support of Hindus and also of BCs through his magic cards, we have to see how far the wand will weave its magic on voters. Andhra Pradesh is going for general elections in 2019.
