Government of Gorakhpur suspends Gorakhpur hospital chief for negligent behavior

upGorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath on Saturday suspended the director of Baba Raghav Das Medical College (BRD) in Gorakhpur following the deaths of 63 children, including newborns, due to an alleged interruption in oxygen supply liquid.

“We are suspending the director of the BRD medical school with immediate effect for this negligent behavior,” said Ashutosh Tandon, Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh and Minister of Medical Education.

“There will be a high-level investigation, led by the Chief Secretary, who will wait until he is informed, actions will be taken until he suspends the principal,” Tandon added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is monitoring the situation at Gorakhpur Hospital and is in constant contact with central and state government officials.

Up to 63 children have died since the last six days, as the oxygen supply to the company would have been cut by the supplier – Pushpa Private Limited.
