Ace Indian Shuttler Pv Sindhu Suffers Setback As Coach Kim Ji Hyun Quits

Indian star shuttler PV Sindhu has suffered an unexpected setback at the Tokyo Olympics. Assistant coach Kim Ji Hoon, who was instrumental in making PV Indus a winner at the recently concluded BWF World Badminton Championships in Switzerland, has resigned due to personal reasons. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics is only 11 months away.

Kim, a 45-year-old South Korean, has a long experience as a coach. Kim won the Badminton World Junior Girls title in 1989 and then won the gold medal at the 1994 Asian Games. Kim announced her retirement in 2001, as well as the 1996 and 2000 Olympics.

Kim has been in India for the past few months in preparation for the Badminton Championship along with PV Sindhu. However, her husband recently had a heart attack. It is reported that Kim has decided to move closer to her husband and resigned as coach. With the resignation of Kim, the additional burden on chief coach Pullela Gopichand will be felt. Kim has also served as an assistant coach for Gopichand, who trains with Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and Sai Praneeth.
